As you know, the next meeting of the IEEE Rail Transit Vehicle Interface Standards Committee will be held October 8-9, 1997 in Washington DC at the Holiday Inn-Georgetown. The committee will meet 9AM to 5PM on Wednesday October 8 and 8:30AM to 4:30 PM on Thursday October 9 in the Mirage Room. The address of the Holiday Inn is 2101 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington DC.

North American transit agency personnel desiring reimbursement should contact Ms. Sheila Moore at the TRB, 202 334-2886. (The maximum room and meals reimbursement for Washington DC is $166/day.)

The meeting will include reports from all of our standards working groups. The first day will also include deciding on future directions for WG2 Communications Based Train Control Standards. The primary focus of the rest of the meeting will be line by line review of IEEE P1475, Draft Standard for the Functioning of and Interfaces among Propulsion, Friction Brake and Train-borne Master Control on Rail Rapid Transit Vehicles, led by Dave Phelps of WG5. Copies will be available at the meeting and should also be available shortly at website http://stdsbbs.ieee.org/groups/railtransit/index.html.
