Background:
On April 4, 2002 a group of electric transit industry representatives interested in forming a sub-committee to establish dc Traction Power Substation Standards met in New York City. As a result, the IEEE Rail Transit Vehicle Interface Standards Committee created this sub-committee to explore the needs of the industry and develop any needed standards, in this regard.

The Sub-Committee has six working groups developing standards, recommended practices, and guides. Three Working Groups are in the final stages of publishing their standards. An additional Working Group is assisting the Power &Energy Society to update Standard PC37.20.8, Standard for Metal-Enclosed Low Voltage (3200V and Below) Direct Current Power Circuit Breaker Switchgear For Traction Power Applications. |
