Minutes from P1564 - Task Force on Voltage Sag Indices
Summer Power Meeting July 18, 2000
INTRODUCTIONS
- Mike Sheehan, co-chairperson provided introductions
- Math Bollen, Co-chair
- Russ Ehrlich, Secretary
- Previous meeting minutes approved
- Paper Session to be held this afternoon: Papers to be posted on the web site
- IAS meeting minutes should be included on Web site
- Need to get IAS meeting minutes
Definitions
- Definitions from 1250 & 1433 as applicable will be used or referenced
- Dennis Hansen, Will look at the definitions pertinent to this topic.
- We will use IEEE definitions to start
- We need a definition of what the Sag Index is used for?
- Methodologies
- Math Bollen - Chalmers University of Technology
- Provided discussion on methodology and how to incorporate existing work
- Discussions:
- Different methodologies for transmission system
- Necessity of system statistics for comparision
- Scalable system requirements
- The need for a standard on how to data
- Performance based rates will need data, how is that data gathered?
- Concerns:
- System construction, weather, location need to be looked at
- 1366 stopped at this level
- Gold book, Chapter 9, theoretical
- No Method exists for sags
- Number of monitors required for effective data
- Need for secion in the guide for these topics
Outline of Sag Indices "The Product"
- Math will discuss/develop methodologies & criteria
- Dan Sabin, Work from Electrotek has already been performed.
- DPQ Project worked through monitor location selection, possible incorportation
- The Outline:
- System - Statistics
- Site - Statistics
- Magnitude & Duration
- Magnitude & Time
- Voltage Samples
Instrumentation Discussion
- Individual feeder level
- Substation level
- Minimum levels
- Use of current values to calculate & identify other information (This is a modeling tool, not index, not to be incorporated into this guide)
Action Items
- Dan Sabin will forward papers to be posted on Web site
- Math will arrange paper into his terminology, paper will be posted on Web site. Paper to identify existing IEEE work products ie. 1250, 1433, 1159.2, etc
- Dennis will look at definitions and provide information
- Russ will provide format, The format of the meeting minutes should follow the outline of the final product: Definitions; methodology; measurements; etc.
- E. Gunther, will provide CIGRE/CIRED paper to be posted on Web site
- IAS meeting is in Rome
- P1564 will not meet in Rome, but P1564 will meet at the WPM in Columbus, OH.
- PCIC Meeting
- Chris Melhorn will provide update & coordination
