IEEE Std 771-1998, IEEE Guide to the Use of the ATLAS Specification
The IEEE Guide to the use of ATLAS provides information on the history, use and structure of the ATLAS language. It is a repository of information obtained from the ATLAS user community gained during many years of experience in developing ATLAS test requirements. This Guide was written as an application manual for engineers and others who write test requirements in ATLAS.
It is considered by many ATLAS users and developers to be a vital part of the document set for the ATLAS language.
The key features of the Guide to the Use of ATLAS are:
• it supports both the IEEE Std 716 and ARINC 626 variants of ATLAS
• it provides guidance in interpreting the techniques and methods required for creating good ATLAS test specifications
• it provides many examples of the use of specific elements of ATLAS.
Where the standard states what, the Guide
explains how.
The continued use of ATLAS means that the Guide is still required to support
those who use the language. The Guide was reaffirmed in 2004. It will be due
for reconsideration again in 2009.
For those using the 1989 version of the ATLAS Standard, the corresponding User Guide is available from the IEEE Xplore website; IEEE Std 771-1989, IEEE Guide to the Use of the ATLAS Specification.
