Bill Birurakis writes:
Working within a
standards group such as SCC20 is *not* the only option of IEEE
sponsorship. If more work needs to be done, but we wish to keep an IEEE
tie, then that work can be done under the DATC auspices, and regular reports can
be made to the SCC20 (or DASC, for that matter) Steering Commitee, and lay the
groundwork for the creation of a PAR and a study group at the appropriate
time. The IEEE has many ways to work; the goal is to create the
appropriate structure, not fight the rules by moving into the standardization
mechanism prematurely.
Of course, if
ATML is ready, then we go to SCC20 whenever it is ready. No need to farble
around.
It's all a
question of what is needed.
