IEEE P1547.1 Draft Standard for Conformance Test Procedures for Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Energy Resources with Electric Power Systems and Associated Interfaces (full revision of IEEE Std 1547.1)

Standard Title:
IEEE P1547.1 Draft Standard Conformance Test Procedures for Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Energy Resources with Electric Power Systems and Associated Interfaces

Scope:
This standard specifies the type, production, commissioning and periodic tests, and evaluations that shall be performed to confirm that the interconnection and interoperation functions of equipment and systems interconnecting distributed energy resources with the electric power system conform to IEEE Standard 1547.

Purpose:
Interconnection equipment that connects distributed energy resources (DER) to an electric power system (EPS) shall meet the requirements specified in IEEE Standard 1547. Standardized test and evaluation procedures are necessary to establish and verify compliance with those requirements. These procedures shall provide repeatable results and flexibility to accommodate a variety of DER technologies and functions.

Background:
IEEE 1547.1 was first published in 2005, reaffirmed in 2011, and in March 2015 Amendment 1 was published as an outgrowth of the publication of IEEE 1547 Amendment 1. Subsequent to the initiation of the full revision of IEEE 1547, IEEE-SCC21 hosted a workshop in October 2014 that provided consensus for the revised title, scope, and purpose to complete a full revision of the IEEE 1547.1 standard before 2018, but preferably sooner.

The drafting of IEEE 1547.1 is ongoing in 2018 following the approval of the IEEE 1547 requirements in January, 2018.
