1547 Series of Standards

The IEEE standards development process is open and voluntary and operates under a consensus process. The best way to participate in standards development is to attend Work Group (WG) meetings. All WG meetings are open meetings.
The USA Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 calls for state commissions to consider certain standards for electric utilities. Under Section 1254 of the act: "Interconnection services shall be offered based upon the standards developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers: IEEE Standard 1547 for Interconnecting Distributed Resources With Electric Power Systems, as they may be amended from time to time."

WG Meetings Background. The 1547 series WGs typically meet at the same location two or three times per year, except for P1547.5. Each WG usually conducts additional activities during the interim. Please check the individual WG sites for more information. There is no meeting cost, but individuals are requested to register. Attendees pay their own way. The meeting hotel is normally within federal government per-diem rates. Meeting attire is business casual but is more formal when we meet in the Washington, DC, area.
