I don't believe that finger printing would be a viable option for
voting, since there are too many problems that can slow down the process -
If your finger is cut, do you take off the bandaid(s)? If so, the cut,
wart, or other blemish would distort the fingerprint - then there would be
a health concern with placing a cut finger on any publicly used device.
Would fingerprints be compared with a database to ensure that the
individual is an authorized voter, and has not voted more than once? Those
who adhere to conspiracy theories would raise a real stink.
There are a number of individuals with artificial limbs, no hands and
arms, that would need to be taken into consideration.
Hand geometry devices would be a better option than fingerprint
recognition, but both methods can be slow, require re-scanning, and would
create bottlenecks at voting stations.
