Commenting on P1583 v. 5.3.2
Hi all -
As we all work on our individual comments spreadsheets, a few people have
wondered whether there would be a chance to make a more summative statement
about their thoughts before the draft is sent to the TGDC. The general
feeling was that the detailed comments are fine, but that they did not
always add up to a thoughtful overview of their evaluation of the overall
standard.
I have talked to other people on the TGDC, and we would welcome SHORT,
WRITTEN statements from any member of the P1583 Working Group to provide
input to the TGDC and staff as we read the draft currently scheduled to be
delivered on December 21.
These statements should be sent via the NIST Voting Project Manager, Allan
Eustis to voting@nist.gov with "Statement on P1583 Draft" in the subject line.
You should be aware:
(1) Although the TDGC welcomes public comment at any point, these comments
should be delivered by 12/21/2004 so they can be distributed with the draft.
(2) Brevity is the soul of wit (and of clarity). Please restrict your
comments to two pages (1000 words) or less, and please address the P1583
draft specifically, rather than making a general statement.
(3) Submissions must be signed, and include any author affiliations
relevant to voting.
(4) Please submit your statement as a PDF, text or Word/RTF file attached
to an email, not as text within the message.
(5) All comments submitted to the TGDC and NIST will be made available to
the public as a public comment.
I know everyone already has a lot to do, but this is a way for those who
feel so inclined to add a general comment on the overall standard to your
detailed comments in the spreadsheet. I believe this will help members of
the TGDC read the draft with a good perspective on the work of this Working
Group.
