IEEE Standards Coordinating Committee 41 (SCC41) is seeking proposals for standards projects in the areas of dynamic spectrum access, cognitive radio, interference management, coordination of wireless systems, advanced spectrum management, and policy languages for next generation radio systems. SCC41 is particularly interested in ideas that could be implemented in commercial products in the near to medium term.
If interested, please review the SCC41 New Project Criteria and submit an abstract of approximately 300-600 words to eydt_bernie@bah.com.
Background
The IEEE P1900 Standards Committee was established in the first quarter 2005 jointly by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) and the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Society. The objective of this effort is to develop supporting standards dealing with new technologies and techniques being developed for next generation radio and advanced spectrum management.
On March 22, 2007 the IEEE Standards Board approved the reorganization of the IEEE 1900 effort as Standards Coordinating Committee 41 (SCC41), Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks (DySPAN). The IEEE Communications Society and EMC Society are sponsoring societies for this effort, as they were for the IEEE 1900 effort.
Within the IEEE, an SCC is a direct sponsor of standards, reporting directly to the Standards Board. The IEEE 1900 Committee ceased to exist at the inaugural meeting of SCC41 in April 2007. The work of the IEEE 1900.x Working Groups continues under SCC41.
Scope
This Standards Coordinating Committee will develop standards related to dynamic spectrum access networks. The focus is on improved use of spectrum. New techniques and methods of dynamic spectrum access require managing interference, coordination of wireless technologies and include network management and information sharing.
