myProject
Introduction myProject is a web-based standards development system. It is an outgrowth of myBallot; a web-based balloting system for standards review. Using your IEEE Web Account User Name and Password for myProject login, you register with myBallot by setting your interest profile. When a standard matching your profile comes to ballot you will be informed by e-mail. Those who wish to join the Ballot Group just log-on to myBallot and enroll themselves in the balloting group. To participate in such a ballot you either have to be an IEEE-SA member or pay a $275 USD single ballot participation fee (May 2006 rate).
How to register your myBallot Interest Profile Browse to the IEEE-SA myProjectTM login Web page and Login using your IEEE Web Account User Name and Password.
After Login, click “Select Activity Profile” to setup your interest profile - don’t click myBallot!
The banner from the “Select Activity Profile” page is shown below.
Note that content rows are color-coded; gray for Society, blue for Sponsor, green for Working Group and yellow for Project. Rows with a plus box can be expanded to lower levels, a blue Sponsor row can be expanded into related green Working Group rows and a Working Group row can be expanded into related yellow Project rows. When a row is expanded the plus box changes to a minus box. Rows with a blank check box can be checked by a mouse click to register an interest in the subject of that row.
Interest at Sponsor level From the long list on the page, click the “+” that appears against the gray IEEE Power Engineering Society row, which expands to show the 20-odd PES blue Sponsor rows. The SPDC has two Sponsor rows; Surge Protective Devices/High Voltage (SPD/HV, SC 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5) and Surge Protective Devices/Low Voltage (SPD/LV, SC 3.6), located in the bottom half of the sponsors list. If you have an overall interest in one or both of these Sponsors Projects check the appropriate box. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the page and confirm your interest profile with myBallot.
Interest at Working Group Level If you are not interested in all a Sponsors projects do not check the boxes at the Sponsor level, but click the plus box of the Sponsor, which then expands down to Working Group level. Check the boxes for the Working Groups you are interested in. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the page and confirm your interest profile with myBallot.
Interest at Project Level To get to the projects directly, enter SPDHV or SPDLV or SPD (for HV and LV) in the Project Keyword: box and click “Search”. The resulting page shows all the projects in the class you searched in. Check the boxes of interest, click “Continue” at the bottom of the page and confirm your interest profile with myBallot.
Usage warnings
- Illogically the system doesn't show boxes as being checked at lower levels to the one you checked - but they are (invisibly) checked so don't waste your time checking them!
- If you check the boxes at the Project level you will be excluded from new Working Group Projects. It is recommended that you check at the Working Group level.
- Projects that do not have an allocated Working Group appear as yellow rows at the Working Group level. If interested, you need to check the boxes of these Working Group level Projects.
- At the end of July 2006 one SPDHV project, 1313.1 (IEEE Standard for Insulation Coordination - Definitions, Principles and Rules), was found to be misplaced into the SPDLV area.
