Interpretation of SPDC Standards

Any comments or questions on published SPDC standards should be made to stds-info@ieee.org.

SPDC Response Procedure

If required, the IEEE Standards Department requests the SPDC for an interpretation of a particular standard. The appropriate subcommittee Chair will appoint two subcommittee members to review the document and develop a response for approval by the subcommittee chair. This proposed response is then sent to the SPDC Administration & Standards Committee members for comment. If no negative comments are received within 21 days, the subcommittee Chair will forward the interpretation to the SPDC Standards Coordinator who forwards it to IEEE Standards Committee.

The IEEE Standards Association will be responsible for notifying the originator of the request for interpretation of the official response. If there are negative comments, then it is the responsibility of the Subcommittee Chair to work with the particular Administration & Standards member to resolve the issues. The resolution should be discussed with the SPDC Chair before forwarding to IEEE Standards. If a resolution cannot be achieved, then the Chair of the SPDC will make the final decision as to how the response is to be handled.
