Working Group C3 - Electric Network Control Systems Standards

WELCOME to the Working Group C3 site.  The purpose of this site is to facilitate the development of the standards within our responsibility while maintaining external communication of our progress.

 Scope:    Responsible for the review and update of all assigned ANSI/IEEE and IEEE standards, as needed.  The reviews and updates encompass advances in the state-of-the-art technology in the use of computers, communications, protection and control in data acquisition, processing and control systems.  Prepare proposed guidelines, recommended practices and other standards activities as assigned.

The following standards are currently under the responsibility of this working group:

IEEE Std 1613-2003 - IEEE Standard Environmental and Testing Requirements for Communications Networking Devices in Electric Power Substations.

IEEE Std C37.1-1994 - IEEE Standard Definition, Specification, and Analysis of Systems Used for Supervisory Control, Data Acquisition, and Automatic Control.

IEEE Std C37.2-2002 - IEEE Standard Electric Power System Device Function Numbers and Contact Designations

IEEE 1379-2000 - IEEE Recommended Practice for Data Communications Between Intelligent Electronic Devices and Remote Terminal Units in a Substation

IEEE P1615-200x - IEEE Recommended Practice for Network Communication in Electric Power Substations (currently the development of this standard is being done under C3 Task Force 1)
