More precisely, we have three options in responding: Yes, No, and Abstain.  Two of them are considered casting a vote (as defined by Roberts).

No one is taking away your right to abstain.  I'm just pointing out that your method of counting for decision-making means that No votes and Abstain responses have the same effect.  In terms of decision-making, their meaning is determined by their effect in the decision (i.e., No and Abstain produce the same effect).  I think most SUO members understand the distinction between (Rule #1) Yes > No vs. (Rule #2) Yes > No + Abstain and that Rule #2 means "my Abstain response effectively counts as a No vote" ... and SUO members want a method of responding in a way that permits a neutral response (which means they want Rule #1).

You haven't demonstrated that in rule #2, No and Abstain produce different effects in the outcome.  And you haven't disputed the analysis in Robert's.

I think SUO members "get it".
