They didn't invalidate them, they just made a ruling on a particular issue ... and they've made a mess for themselves because of the inconsistencies they've created ... sorta their problem (the inconsistencies) and our problem (unfortunately, we can't take any votes until this stuff is worked out, including all the appeals).
Still, your arguments are faulty (regardless of IEEE-SA BoG's current ruling).

Absolutely not. I'd say it's unforunate. I'm still an expert. Just because several people make uninformed/erroneous decisions doesn't take away from my expertise (I'm sure you'd agree that a good lawyer can lose a case with a poor judge). Probably adds to my expertise: when I teach/train on standards, I have yet another real world example of how high level administrators can go wrong. This has happened in the past in standard committees ... the current IEEE-SA BoG issue is an excellent case history. If you had had formal training in standards, you'd recognize IEEE-SA BoG ruling goes along with other cases of uninformed/erroneous actions of standards committees ... this one is pretty clear cut.
