All,

I thought I had sent this to the SUOlist, but I only sent it to
Pierluigi. So here it is.

SUO,

As I helped draft the ballot question (a role of the Chair),
allow me to clarify my understanding and intentions.

I understood that OpenCyc, CycL, and CycML were related and it
was not yet clear if they should be 3 separate efforts, or combined in
some way. As such, the wording is purposely vague "...one or more
candidate standards."

This vote does not finalize anything, so the group can still
decide to do, or not do, whatever it wants. But it won't be able to
seriously consider the right path until it decides if it wants to work on
these items or not, which is the purpose of this ballot.

As for items being outside the scope of the current PAR, the SUO
WG has one PAR but it could have more. CycL would indeed be outside the
scope of the SUO PAR, but we could simply submit a new PAR for it. So,
the current PAR should not restrict related work from coming into the SUO
WG.

Also, its perfectly OK for a Working Group to start work on a
document that is related to a given PAR, but evenually will need to be
split off into a new PAR.
