SUO: Hypothesis: SUMO is a Small Group Ontology

I have some questions for the SUMO group:
Do the SUMO proposers intend their document
to represent a scientific ontology or
a common sense ontology?
1. If it is supposed to be a scientific ontology,
on what scientific theories is it based?
2. If it is supposed to be a common sense ontology,
on what survey of common sense is it based?
What arguments and evidence can the SUMO proposers bring forward
to support the claim that their document represents anything more
than the personal philosophical system of the small group of people
that developed it?
