SUO: unsubscribing
A clue for anyone wishing to unsubscribe from any mailing list:
Posting a request to unsubscribe from a mailing list only spams the
list. Properly configured list servers (inevitably either the venerable
Majordomo or the (IMHO) vastly superior Mailman) include unsubscribing
info in the extended headers of every message. The SUO list, for
example, includes the following:
X-Info: [Un]Subscribe requests to majordomo@majordomo.ieee.org
Granted, that doesn't give you the exact syntax for an unsubscribe
request, but anything other than a syntactically correct request sent to
that address will receive a lengthy help msg with detailed instructions
in reply.
