ITU Video Quality Measurement Documents

Phil Corriveau and Nikolaus Walch at the Communications Research Centre (CRC) in Ottawa, Canada created The Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG) Official Web Site. The site includes information about VQEG, reports on current projects (some require a password for access), an archive of VQEG email discussions, a download area and links to other sites.

Arthur Webster has established an ftp site with electronic documents relevant to the work of the ITU Video Quality Experts Group and the Joint Rapporteurs' Group on subjective and objective audiovisual quality. To join the email reflector established for these groups, contact Arthur Webster webster@its.bldrdoc.gov.

Useful Internet Tools

Adobe Acrobat Reader
Adobe Acrobat is becoming the standard format for portable document distribution across the Internet. T1 is using it now and I intend to use it for distributing more complex G-2.1.6 documents that include images. The free viewer is available for most computer platforms and operating systems.
One word of warning. If you are using Netscape and click on an Acrobat file, such as the minutes above, it may ask if you want to download the viewer to see it. DON'T!! Cancel out and use the link above to download the file to a temporary directory. Then exit out of your browser and run the executible file you downloaded. (Don't forget to note the name and location where you save it.) This should install it on you system. Then you can restart your browser and read the file. You can also save the PDF file for later viewing or printing.

Word For Windows Reader - Information
Read this file before you download the full program, listed below.

Word For Windows Reader (Windows 3.x or 95) - Program
Free 1206 kb program for viewing Word for Windows files. It will read documents created with all versions of Word up to, but not including Word 97. A viewers is available at no charge from Microsoft for Word 97 files, but it is significantly bigger and more complicated. This version works with Windows 3.x or Windows 95. A Windows 95 only version is available but I didn't find it worth the extra download time.

Pegasus E-mail
Free e-mail program for various platforms, including DOS and Windows. I've found it works well with all the various forms of attachments I'm sent. It also has powerful filtering capabilities to sort your mail, before or after you read it. While not as easy to set up as the commercial Eudora product, it is worth the effort if you don't want to pay for the commercial Eudora Pro or endure the commercials in the free version.

Eudora
Free and commercial e-mail programs. The comercial product is one of the best available. For free software, I prefer Pegasus as it offers most of the capability of the commercial Eudora product. The free Lite version of Eudora has limitations.
