IEEE Standard for Rectangular Metallic Waveguides and Their Interfaces for Frequencies of 110 GHz and Above
Part 1: Frequency Bands and Waveguide Dimensions
Part 2: Waveguide Interfaces
Part 3: Recommendations for Performance and Uncertainty Specifications

Project number:

Start date:

March 2008

Completion date:

October 2016

Working Group (WG) name:

Waveguides for Millimeter and Sub-Millimeter Wavelengths

WG short name:

WG Chair:

Nick Ridler, NPL, UK

WG Vice Chair:

Ron Ginley, NIST, USA

WG Secretary:

Jeffrey Hesler, Virginia Diodes Inc, USA

Sponsoring Society:

Microwave Theory & Techniques (MTT)

Sponsoring Committee:

Standards Coordinating Committee (SCC)

Sponsor Chair:

Michael Janezic, NIST, USA

Project Scope:

This standard will provide the relevant specifications for hollow metallic rectangular waveguide operating at frequencies of 110 GHz and above.

The standard will be in three parts:

1) describes the frequency bands and aperture dimensions of the waveguides

2) will describe the waveguide interfaces

3) will give recommendations for performance and uncertainty specifications for the combined waveguide apertures and interfaces

Project Purpose:

The purpose of this standard is to provide the agreed reference for all organizations using rectangular waveguides at these frequencies. This will enable efficient trade between customers and suppliers, and common design criteria and practices for component, systems and design engineers.
