I do not have a strong opinion either way on this issue.
Originally, I saw aesthetic reasons for including infinity,
and it seemed consistent with the 754-2008 statement that
"the underlying model is the extended reals." However, others
have put up a strong argument for the underlying model to be
the finite reals. Also, I feel it more important that this
particular issue be resolved soon than what the actual decision
is.
