Reminder: Motions 5 and 6 under discussion --
IEEE P1-1788 (working group for interval arithmetic) members:
The officers have observed that there has been limited
discussion on these motions. I therefore wish to remind
you that the formal discussion period for the revision of
Motion 5 ends on Wednesday, August 12, while the discussion
period for the revision of Motion 6 ends this coming Tuesday,
August 4.
According to our agreed upon procedures, voting will begin
on these important motions immediately after the end of the
discussion period, at which time we should vote. (In
Robert's rules, one doesn't argue one's point of view
during voting at in-person meetings.) Therefore, please
express any opinions about these motions NOW, rather than
during the voting period. (Of course, according to our
rules, you do give your reasons, if your vote is "NO.")
I remind you that copies of the motions and supporting papers
can be found at the official web site, at
http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/1788/
and that you may obtain the password for the private area
(where the motions and their status appear) from me.
