The disaster to Poland's leaders

I don't know how to say it well, but I feel shattered by the news I heard late last night of the death of the President of Poland and many of his fellow leaders while travelling to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. As a member of P1788, I had the privilege last September of my first visit to Poland to attend the conference in Wroclaw, the city where my grandfather Max Born grew up. A month ago I was at a well-attended showing in Swindon of the film "Katyn", and learned the details for the first time of this terrible crime committed at the orders of the Soviet government. I want to express to the Polish members of our group my sympathy, which I am sure we shall all share, at this time when again their country must rebuild its leadership after a massive loss.
