Several computational examples (with 2D paving plots) were given during the discussions that led up to Motion 8.02. Mostly these were examples involving branch-and-bound algorithms.

If this is a realistic example of a useful program, then I would consider it is a good example where decorated intervals could be useful.

Yes, it is. We have many problems of this kind, though of course simple fixed point iteration is replaced by more complex stuff.
