P1788 Motion M0021.02 YES
I vote yes for Motion 21.2 interval overlapping:
I think it is specified clear enough not to be global state, e.g., the
result of the interval overlapping operator is a first-class abstract data
type IOV (this is something the IEEE 754 documents didn't do).
I also see the motion is practical, particularly for applications of
temporal and spatial sorting (including red-black trees). With proper
hardware support these algorithms should be much faster due to interval
overlapping. Since we use these algorithms in our products and applications,
we would make good use of any interval processor that suppported interval
overlapping operations.
