Motion P1788/0026.01:Decorations -- discussion period begins.

P-1788 members:

Since Motion 26 has been submitted by John Pryce and
seconded by Dan Zuras,
the discussion period now begins, and will end after
Tuesday, July 5.  I attach the motion.

This motion is in the form of actual standards text.  However,
since this motion will be discussed and voted simultaneously
with a position paper (Motion 25) presenting an alternative
list and hierarchy of decorations, we will initially
discuss and vote on this motion as a position paper.  If
this position paper is adopted, we will then discuss and
vote on it as standards text.

An additional note: When the voting comes up, I will
view a vote for both Motion 25 and Motion 26 to
be inconsistent, while the other three combinations
of votes are consistent.  In other words, I see us
in the "position paper" phase as focusing on
(6) and (10) of Motion 26 versus Definition 1, Definition 2,
and 2.2 of Motion 25, although other aspects may
certainly be discussed.  Also, other parts of both
papers are certainly relevant to discussion on
the focus. (If, in contrast,
Motion 25 is adopted, standards wording would first be
produced to be consistent with that document.)
If you have objections to this order of business,
you may voice them.
