John's specification was in fact incomplete:That is, the nonempty members of T comprise all intervals xx=[xlo,xhi], where xlo and xhi are F-numbers.What's missing is: ... and xlo is not +oo, and xhi is not -oo
FYI: this will be bad for Kaucher enthusiasts, as well, since if xlo and xhi are finite then [xlo,-oo] [+oo,xhi] [+oo,-oo] could be valid, e.g., we would rather see the specification simply say that xlo and xhi can't both be infinities with the same sign. Did I scream? Nate
