By threading, Vincent meant only that the subject appear on the subject line. I do think anyone attaches the whole chain, we only attach the part to which we reply

Is this better?  I added a Content-Type tag and inserted the message ID in
a "In-reply-to:" entry.  Or do I have to keep track of the entire reference
chain?  I try not to clutter up my old mail files with too much junk.  (I
guess most people don't see the gross overhead of simple e-mail, but for
short posts the actual message (including the relevant tags of From:, To:,
Date: and Subject:) might be a tiny 2% to 5% of the total.)
