Motion 36.03: NO
My vote on Motion 36.03 is NO for the same reasons as Prof. Gudenberg
and others.
This is a tough decision, because John has done a lot of excellent work
to include for example Kaucher intervals, which I do not want to
discourage. Furthermore, I agree with Nate Hayes:
> To include Kaucher/modal intervals at a later time would
> then require invalidating the future 1788 standard, which is unlikely.
However, I think that the current standard is already complicated even
without flavours. My general concern is that if some 100 experts on
interval arithmetic can not agree on a simple and unambiguous definition
of its basic arithmetic operations, this standard will never be adopted.
If Motion 36.03 passes, I'm already looking forward to someone splitting
flavors into major aromas and minor scents.
Best regards,
Markus
