Dear Friends,
This is the big meeting of fuzzy community, biannual Congress oif the International Fuzzy Systems Associations, which will be held together with the annual conference of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society.
As many of you know, fuzzy conferences always welcome interval talks, especially when they are fuzzy-related. However, since interval techniques are used to process fuzzy data, purely interval talks are also welcome. The conference
organizers asked to stongly encourage all interval folks to attend. This conference will attract many fuzzy researchers from all over the world, so this is an exceppent opportunity for us to teach manyy fuzzy folks who may be interested in
using our results and our algorithms -- and/or listen to interesting interval-related challenges that arise from their problems.
There will be a special interval mini-symposium (at IFSA minis are called focused sessions).
One more important issue. As you know, we are currently developing the IEEE interval standard. By IEEE rules, we are required to have face-to-face meetings at least one a year. On even years, we meet at SCAN conferences, on odd years, we
meet at different related conference. In 2013, we decided to have our face-to-face meeting at IFSA/NAFIPS conference in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to make it easier for Baker Kearfott and other North American members of the interval
standard working group to meet (many were unable to come to Novosibirsk for SCAN'2012).
This will be an important meeting, since we are (hopefully) in the final stages of forming the draft standard, several portions have already been voted on, so important discussions are expected.
While we will be in Canada discussing the standard, why not use this opportunity to also present discuss our results at a highly visible conference.
The deadline for IFSA/NAFIPS is January 28, this will be the big event, we hope to see you all in Canada!
