No -- this would denote a scalar, not an interval. You would have to
place brackets around the scalar to denote a degenerate or 1-ulp interval.
None of this would affect Sun's compiler, whose language definition
includes that particular notation for imprecise numbers. All it means
is that a text2interval() function would recognize a different standard
notation for imprecise intervals.
The goal of the standard is to provide a standard way to express intent.
In any particular instance there may be other ways to state the same thing,
but that would be restricted to its applicable context, and not be general.
