IEEE 754 revision PAR?

P-1788 participants:

The IEEE 754-2008 standard is set to expire after 10 years
(at the end 2018). The way it can remain a standard beyond that
time is for a "Revision PAR" to be submitted for MSC
consideration. The 754 working group would then discuss and
submit their consensus, for continuation of a (possibly revised)
754 standard beyond 2018.

For the 754 working group to have the full 4 years alloted for
producing a revision, a PAR should be submitted now. The
chair of the original 754 was Bill Kahan, whom I believe has
moved on, while the chair for 754-2008 was Dan Zuras, active
in this working group. Dan, are you willing to submit
a revision PAR? If not, is there someone else willing to
do so? I realize a significant number of people active in 1788 have
been active in 754, and this is why I am posting this to this working group.

You may reply to me either publicly or privately.

Best regards,

Baker
