IEEE 802.11 WORKING GROUP - Policies and Procedures (aka "rules")

Introduction

The operation of the 802.11 working group (WG11) is governed by a number of documents,  which come from multiple sources.  These documents are listed below in the form of a hierarchy where those at the top override documents below them.

Matters of procedure in 802.11 (where not described by one of the higher documents in the hierarchy) are decided by the WG11 chair.  Established  WG11 procedures are described in the WG11 Operations Manual.

If you are new to standards development or new to WG11, do not despair!   Day to day rules can be learned up through observing and participating in the WG.   If you are unsure about the operation of some procedure in WG11,  speak to one of the WG officers or the officers of its subgroups.  Familiarity with this material (at least,  where describing the operation of a WG) is helpful to operate effectively as a WG partipant.  Familiarity with this material is essential for WG leaders.
