Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBF] TGbf meeting on March 9, 12, 15 (Tuesday, Friday, Monday), 9:00 – 11:00am ET

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your feedback. While I appreciate your kind suggestions, the main objective of the SP is to propose a high-level framework of the sensing protocol. I prefer to make the text more generic for now, without many restrictions to define the number or order of the phases. Based on the SP result, I also observed most members are fine with the current text. I think it makes more sense to determine these next-level details when we come to the step of defining the detailed flow, procedures, and frame exchange of each phase in the specific sensing protocol. For example, in 11az we defined the measurement exchange phase of an FTM session, but within the measurement exchange phase we can have multiple instances of the Polling/Measurement Sounding/Measurement reporting phases.

Best,

Cheng

Hello Cheng,

Thanks for this.  As discussed during the call, it might be good to be more

specific as to the intent:

- I assume there cannot be more than one setup phase or termination phase

(if you want it to be possible to have more than one setup phase to change

the setup, a bit like FTM, this should be explicit)

- I think there has to be at least one measurement phase, otherwise

there's no sensing

- I assume the intent is that for radar-type operations where everything

is done at the same STA, there is no setup phase?

- The possibility of alternating measurement and reporting phases should

be allowed for

- The order of the phases wasn't explicit

So maybe something like (assuming I've understood the intent correctly):

·       A sensing session is composed of:

o   Zero or one setup phase, where a sensing session is established, and operational parameters associated with the sensing session are determined and may be exchanged between STAs.

o   One or more measurement phases, where sensing measurements are performed.

o   Zero or more reporting phases, where sensing measurement results are reported.

o   Zero or one termination phase, where STAs stop performing measurements and terminate the sensing session.

·       The setup phase, if present, is the first phase in the session

·       The termination phase, if present, is the last phase in the session

·       Measurement and reporting phases, if both present, can alternate

?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Tony,

I would like to submit a motion request to run the motion corresponding to the SP I already ran in contribution 20/1851r4. Please queue it in the agenda. Thanks.

Move to add the following to 11bf SFD:

·       A sensing session is composed of one or more of the following phases: setup phase, measurement phase, reporting phase, and termination phase.

o   In the setup phase, a sensing session is established, and operational parameters associated with the sensing session are determined and may be exchanged between STAs.

o   In the measurement phase, sensing measurements are performed.

o   In the reporting phase, sensing measurement results are reported.

o   In the termination phase, STAs stop performing measurements and terminate the sensing session.

Best,

Cheng

Dear all,

This is a reminder and call for submissions for the upcoming meeting on March 9, 12, 15 (Tuesday, Friday, Monday), 9:00 – 11:00am ET

The initial agenda document is posted:

                  https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/21/11-21-0206-01-00bf-tgbf-meeting-agenda-2021-03-plenary.pptx

Please note:

  1. Please send the agenda request at least 24 hours prior to the call, following the format below:

DCN, Title, Author (affiliation), Time duration

  1. I will cancel the call if there is no request received 24 hours prior to a call.
  2. Please upload your submissions (revision 0) on mentor 24 hours prior to the meeting so that members would have a chance to review those submissions offline. Otherwise,
    1. If there is not enough time during the meeting, the presentation will be delayed to the next meeting.
    2. If there is enough time during the meeting, the presentation will be moved to the end of the queue and be presented in the end. However, any related SP should be delayed to the next meeting.
  3. Please send the motion request around 10+5 days before the meeting (for teleconference, not for Plenary or Interim meeting), so that the TG chair could send the 10 day advance notice to the 802.11 reflector, after getting the approval from the WG chair.
  4. Dial-in information:
