[STDS-802-11-TGBI] (simultaneously) rotating mac addresses

Hey all,

because it came up on Wednesday, there's a lot of prior research on rotating MAC addresses in the vehicular privacy sector.

Here's a short survey:

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/264773172_Pseudonym_Schemes_in_Vehicular_Networks_A_Survey

Here's a longer survey (D. Förster, Verifiable Privacy Protection for Vehicular Communication Systems):

https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-658-18550-3

And an article about ways of simultaneously rotating IP and MAC to ensure that IP (higher layer connectivity) doesn't leak sensitive information when MAC is rotated:

https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/8275622

If you're able to have access to Försters thesis, it contains in turn references back to documents from as early as 2005-2006 where researchers were looking at these issues for specifically vehicles.

I hope this helps,

Best regards,
