Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBN] DSO PDT and CR doc 11-25/1164

Hi Morteza,

Thank you for drafting the specification text for the DSO feature!

I have some concerns regarding the DSO feature support limited to STAs operating at 80 MHz BW or above. There was an email exchange on the reflector earlier, that supported the position of 20 MHz and 40 MHz DSO non-AP STAs, because most IT managed deployments deploy BSSs at 80 MHz in 6 GHz and 20/40 MHz in 5 GHz band (for appropriate frequency reuse).

I had an offline discussion with a member who said the solution was to deploy wider BWs (160 MHz/320 MHz) and also enable features like DSO to address the flexibility required in channel reuse and capacity planning. The problem here is not being able to support pre-UHR STAs when 160/320 MHz BWs are deployed, since inter-BSS interference for pre-UHR STAs is dependent on frequency reuse planning. So, in reality, after roughly 10-15 years, when majority of STAs in the field are UHR (+DSO capable), then the 160/320 MHz BWs can be pratically deployed.

Till then the feature as it is currently designed remains practically unusable apart from some residential deployments where frequency reuse design and capacity planning is less of a concern.

I hope we can consider adding support for 20 MHz and 40 MHz DSO non-AP STAs.

Regards,
Gaurav

Hi all,

Please review the PDT/CR doc for DSO and let me know if you have any comments.

Thanks,
Morteza
