And one more: what the note is trying to say is the SMD-KDK remains while PTK is renewed, no matter the target AP MLD has been connected or not. Suggest a massage to the text as:
NOTE --- While maintaining an association to an SMD-ME, ff a non-AP MLD performs a SMD BSS transition to a target AP MLD, the existing SMD-KDK is maintained while a new per-AP MLD PTK is derived using that SMD_KDK.

Would “in the past” be too broad? 1 day in the past, 1 year in the past? What if the existing SMD_KDK is derived in a different SMD?
Maybe add some restriction to the SMD_KDK helps: the new Per-AP MLD PTK is derived using the existing SMD_KDK cached for that SMD-ME as described in the previous paragraph
