Hi Edward, Not related to this specific reflector message, but I wanted you to know that my new director, Wuling, replacing Wuzhijian, is putting a stop to my participation in 802.11. She believes the risk is too great for exposure that Huawei is
putting patent counsel (I’m neither a lawyer nor a registered agent, just in the job function of one) into 802 and trying to give him voting rights and direct ability to make comments on draft text. The optics on this is that I have no way of contributing
technically since I am not a research engineer. My only possible agenda is to get draft text to align with our IPRs by “stuffing the ballot box.” I successfully hid my IPR status in Madrid, but who knows how long I can succeed with that? I can’t keep “forgetting
my business card” forever. Someone from Qualcomm could pose as my landlord requesting “employment verification” and find out my true position. I appreciate the confidence you have in me, and the confidence Wang Lei has in me as well. Madrid was an interesting and rewarding experience, and I value the glimpse I got into the inventors’ world of standard setting. Best regards, Andrew PS- the worst part of it all is no more hugs from Stephanie of Face To Face From: *** IEEE STDS-802-11 List *** <STDS-802-11@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
