[802.3_B400G] [802.3dj] Straw Poll results from Joint Electrical/Optical/Logic ad hoc

Dear Colleagues,

 

In advance of the November 2025 Plenary meeting, I would like to encourage participants to review the results from the straw polls taken at the 30 Oct 2025 joint electrical/optical/logic ad hoc.  See: https://www.ieee802.org/3/dj/public/adhoc/electrical/25_1030/3dj_adhoc_straw_polls_251030.pdf   

 

Straw Polls were taken in two topics areas related to D2.2:  (1) Acronym for “Block Error Ratio” and (2) Acronym for “Annex 178B”.

 

In the ad hoc meeting, I observe that there was strong consensus to the use of “BLER” as the acronym for “Block Error Ratio”.   (See Straw Poll #1)

 

In the ad hoc meeting, I observe that there was strong consensus to the use of “APSU”, e.g. “Autonomous Path Start Up”, as a replacement for “Path Startup (PSU)”    (See Straw Poll #3) 

 

There are D2.2 comments requesting clarity on these terms and acronyms and the editorial team intends to base their proposed responses in the direction that aligns with the straw polls above.  Please note that they may repeat the straw polls in the CRG to reaffirm the consensus.
