Folks, Sorry about the cancellation of the last meeting. I had a late breaking personal conflict and then I came down with COVID. Looking to move this project forward, the main thing that I had from the meeting in Madrid was significant discussion about the mechanics of SA ballot and comment resolution. I’ve
published a minor update to
YANG AdHoc FAQ and Guidelines 09/15/2025 that addresses some of these points.
I propose that we make the following changes to 802.3.2 2025: ·
Remove
o
Mapping tables between IEEE Std 802.3, Clause 30 managed objects and ieee802-lldp YANG data nodes
o
YANG module text and tree hierarchies. These will be attached to the PDF, not included within it. ·
Add
o
Overview material explaining the relationship between the YANG OS Project and 802.3.2. I propose the revision process will be: 1.
Start an 802.3.2 revision project. This needs a PAR, but no CFI, CSD or Objectives. There is no Study Group phase, it goes directly to a new Task Force.
i. Mapping tables between IEEE Std 802.3, Clause 30 managed objects and ieee802-lldp YANG data nodes
ii. YANG module text and tree hierarchies. These will be attached to the PDF, not included within it.
i. Overview material explaining the relationship between the YANG OS Project and 802.3.2.
ii. Attach the latest official release of the YANG OS Project models 3.
TF ballot: I expect the TF ballot process to be short as the main TF participants will also be participating in the YANG OS Project models. 4.
WG ballot: I expect the WG ballot to be reasonably short as only a small subset of the WG participants ate strongly interested in YANG. 5.
SA ballot: The SA ballot pool is likely to contain people who are not involved in either the OS project or 802.3 and may draw more comments.
a.
The CRG resolves comments as normal. Any commenter proposing significant changes will be directed to the YANG OS Project as the preferred method to make such changes.
b.
The TF appoints an individual to submit any changes made in the ballot process to the YANG OS Project. This should happen during the recirculation process so we have the
chance to address any co-ordination issues during the process. I intend to schedule an online meeting for September 25th to progress the work. Regards, Peter _______________________________________________________________ Peter Jones Distinguished Engineer,
