Pursuant to the email sent Last Thursday, I have updated information for the process for cancelling Reservations and Registrations.
While we were preparing the statement for the 802 cancellation, we expected we would have a new link and some steps to cancel the hotel reservations. It turns out that is not needed.
While we were working with the Hotel, they said that they could make it easy to cancel in bulk and not have to have all the phone calls to cancel the reservations.
I authorized them to send the email out Friday and process all the Hilton Atlanta reservations.
If you note, the email from them includes the text from the 802 Plenary Cancellation notice.
The Hilton automated marketing system sent out a "welcome" emails starting about Sunday, and some "upgrade" emails on Monday. We have been in contact with the hotel, all of the reservations in our 802 hotel block have been cancelled, and you should have received a cancellation number.
The Hilton apologizes for the emails that have come after the cancellations and assures us that your Hilton Atlanta reservations are cancelled.
As for 802 Plenary Registrations, All registration cancellations will occur automatically and will be processed this week. It takes some time to process, so I ask you to be patient.
We hope to have them complete by Friday.
What we know now, that we did not know last Thursday, is that the Hilton Atlanta Hotel Cancellations (for our block) and the IEEE 802 Plenary Meeting Registration Cancellations will be processed with minimal/no effort on the part of the participants.
We hope that you will be able to participate in future IEEE 802 Plenaries.
