All,
802.11 has generated four new PARs which they
intend to bring forward to the SEC closing plenary in March for Approval.
They are on Wireless Access for the Vehicular Environment, Fast Roaming, Mesh
Networking, and a PAR Revision. In addition, 802.15 has generated
four new PARs now posted at http://ieee802.org/15/pending.html, and
802.1 has a PAR posted at http://www.ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2004/ConnectivityFaultPAR-v1.2a.doc
Members of each WG, including ours, should be
reviewing the PARs to determine if we have any interest in the work being done,
or concerns about the development of that work. If we have concerns
it is up to us to notify our chair, individually, or by WG motion, so that
he can air our concerns at the SEC meeting and vote accordingly. We should
also determine if we want representatives of 802.1, 802.11 and / or 802.15 to
make presentations on one or more of their PARs during our March
meeting.
Jerry, please circulate or post the 3 PARs from
802.11 and their associated 5 Criteria that Stuart Kerry has forwarded to the
SEC.
All, if you have any interest or concerns in the
new work that 802.1, 802.11 or 802.15 will be undertaking, please review
the PARs prior to the March meeting, so that you will be in a position to
request time on our 802.20 WG agenda, prior to our Agenda approval, and to
request that we invite those groups to our meeting to review their new
PAR material.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Robert D. Love
