[802-20-GENERAL:] Evaluation Criteria - Process for Closure

All 802.20,

At the Berlin Interim meeting, the participating members devoted the majority of the agenda on the Evaluation Criteria and Traffic Models document. We discussed a number of process steps that should help us finalize and approve the document at the November Plenary.

A new version of the Document was created and is posted in the Drop Box.

  1. Document sections were Updated based upon consensus conclusions at the meeting.
  2. The Document was Annotated to show work required in each section for completion.

Members are requested to review the Document and provide Contribution/Proposals for Sections that are:

  1. Annotated as having identified Issues/Different Views or where members have different views after their review of this version
  2. Annotated as Open and requiring proposed text or a proposal to delete with a rationale
  3. Annotated as requiring Explanation or Revision including inconsistencies with the approved Systems Requirements Document

We have four Conference Calls scheduled, posted also, between now and the November Plenary.

–Tuesday, September 28, 2004, 6-8pmET

–Tuesday, October 12, 2004, 6-8pmET

–Tuesday, October 26, 2004, 6-8pmET

–Tuesday, November 9, 2004, 6-8pmET

We have asked Farooq Khan, the editor of the document, to lead the calls and execute the following process steps:

  1. Develop agreed list of items for closure to address on call in advance.
  2. Update the Document based on consensus conclusions from the calls. Annotate the document changes/additions as coming from a specific conference call.
  3. Add Options to Document, if no consensus.
  4. Announce the conference call details to the 802.20 all email reflector

We ask you, the Members/Participates of the Working Group, to do the following:

  1. Review the document now and provide your inputs via Contributions and Proposed Text in advance of the Plenary so we can discuss and hopefully reach consensus on sections before the Plenary
  2. Send your Contributions/Proposals to the Evaluation Criteria Correspondence Group email reflector and to the Farooq.
  3. Join the email reflector, if you have not done so. The web site contains a link to join the reflector. If you have problems or questions, please contact Gang Wu and myself.

A Plenary Version of the document will be available and posted after Nov. 9, 2004 conference call. We will review and vote on the sections of the documents at Plenary. Time for Ad-Hocs and drafting will be allocated. The goal is approval of the overall document at the November Plenary.

Your help and contributions toward achieving this goal are appreciated.

Please contact Farooq or myself if you have question or suggestions.

A similar closure approach and goal will be announced for the Channel Models Document.

Jerry Upton
