Re: [802SEC] PAR for mmWave Alternate PHY for 802.15.3

Bob,

Why isn't the 802.15.3c PAR restricted to unlicensed bands only?  Given that the focus of the SG has been the 60GHz unlicensed bands, this seems to make sense to me to keep it focused on the unlicensed bands.  Also, a lower frequency limit is provided, but not an upper frequency limit--I think it makes sense to provide both lower and upper limits to limit the scope and improve focus for the project.

Regards,

Mike raises a question that is probably of interest to the entire EC. The proposed project has nothing to do with 3a.   802.15.3a is limited to alternative radios below 24GHz.  UWB technology has been the center of attention for 3a in the 3-10Ghz range.

The proposed project is limited to radios above 24GHz and likely in the 60GHz unlicensed bands-hence mmWave.  It has nothing to do with the 3a issues and is aimed at a different class of application space even though both may be used carry A/V. Good news is there are no entrenched positions going into this unlike the 3a situation with the UWB technologies.

is this something out of 15.3.a in terms of both sides getting

whats the politics of this one?
