[802SEC] FW: BPL Entity Voting

Bob,

Paul would like me to inform the EC that we cannot become an
entity and hence cannot join the broadband over power-line (BPL) sponsor
ballot.

Please add a 1 minute item on the agenda for this item.

Thanks,
Steve

Karen,

Thanks for your help. I have not had time to talk to Steve
Mills this week. But based on your email it looks like we will not
become an entity and voting on BPL. Steve, is that correct?

Steve

Steve,
I belive this discussion took place at the past IEEE-SA Board of
Governors
and/or IEEE-SA Corporate Advisory Group meeting. Steve Mills is here
this
week and he can help me if my memory of that discussion is different.
Essentially the 802 cannot become an IEEE Corporate Member, which it
would
need to do in order to ballot, because it cannot meet the requirements
of
the definition of an entity to qualify for membership.

Karen,

The IEEE broadband over power-line (BPL) project is going to
be
using entity voting. At the last plenary IEEE 802 decided to become an
entity and join the ballot pool for the BPL project. This evening Paul
asked me to look into what needs to be done so that IEEE 802 can become
an
entity and join this ballot pool. Can you advise me on what we need to
do?

Regards,
Steve
