     * Overview:
       Mr. Ramie's presentation describes the various system architectures 
and details the certification
       requirements of the FCC Report and Order 04-245 which took effect 
February 7, 2005. This work
       is from the Electric Power Research Institute's publication #1011663.

       Get involved and help influence how the telecom industry will be 
regulated -- which will impact the
       industry and your career. Congress is planning to rewrite the 
telecom regulations.

     * Speaker Biography:
       Jerry Ramie is the President and founder of ARC Technical Resources, 
Inc. which provides training,
       equipment, systems and services for Electromagnetic Compatability 
(EMC).  He is a member of
       the IEEE EMC Society, the dB Society and is a NARTE (National 
Association of Radio and
       Telecommunications Engineers) certified EMC technician.  He can be 
reached at (408) 263-6486.
       Mr. Ramie has over 23 years experience in EMC and founded ARC 
Technical Resources, Inc. in 1989.
       Mr. Ramie authored an article on BPL Certification requirements in 
the August 2005 issue of Conformity.

     * Directions:  The Public Utilities Commission is on the corner of Van 
Ness and McAllister diagonally
       across from City Hall.  There is a parking lot on Franklin between 
McAllister and Golden Gate.
       There are underground lots at the Opera Plaza on Golden Gate between 
Franklin and Van Ness
       and at Civic Center Plaza on McAllister between Polk and 
Larkin.  Parking under the CPUC is not open
       to the public.  Any Muni bus running on Van Ness will stop on the 
corner.  Coming from the East by BART
       or Muni Metro, it is best to transfer to a westbound No. 5 Bus at 
the Powell St. Station.  Alternatively, it
       is a 5 to 10-minute walk from Civic Center Station and about the 
same from Van Ness Station.  Coming
       from the West by Metro or bus, transfer to a bus going North on Van 
Ness.  Go up the steps at the corner
       of Van Ness and McAllister.  Someone will be waiting at the top 
behind the gate to let you in.

       for its members. It is a convenient and useful adjunct to the 
sfComSoc website and email list.  The forum will
