Re: [802SEC] ++++ EC ballot on press release regarding publication of 802.11-2012 ++++

Bruce

I vote approve, but I may have an editorial comment (if not already made).

The initial publication of 802.11 was in 1997. I have a paper copy of it and an electronic copy was distributed with our 2012 Standards CD in the archive sub-directory.

Accordingly, shouldn't "IEEE 802.11-2012 is the third revision of the standard to be released since its initial publication in 1999."
instead read:
"IEEE 802.11-2012 is the third revision of the standard to be released since its initial publication in 1997."

1999 was the publication date of the first revision, but I would think that most people would say the "initial publication" was when the standard was first published.

IMHO.

Dear EC members,

IEEE P802.11-2012 (Revision) has been published. Working with SA Staff we developed a draft press release.

Last week I distributed v7 of the 802.11-2012 draft press release and incorporated the edit suggestions from Roger into this version 8 of the draft.

The document is attached

I'm now seeking EC approval to publish the press release.

Paul has delegated the conduct of the EC electronic ballot on the following motion to me. I am announcing the possibility of an 'early close' to this ballot (see below).

Best regards,

The EC supports the IEEE P802.11-2012 press release with editorial changes as deemed necessary.

Move: Bruce Kraemer

Second: Jon Rosdahl

Early close: As required in subclause 4.1.2.2 'Electronic Balloting' of the IEEE project 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC) Operations Manual, this is notice that, to ensure the release is provided in a timely manner, this ballot may close early once sufficient responses are received to clearly decide a matter.
