Re: [802SEC] 802.22.3 PAR Modification/ Extension Request

All,

I spoke to Paul and he wants to consider just the 802.22.3 PAR Modification during the March 2018 Plenary.

We will take on the PAR Extension request later this year.

So please consider

Draft PAR Modification Request: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.22/dcn/18/22-18-0005-00-0003-802-22-3-par-modification.docx

Also, the original approved CSD which has not changed:

Pat,

That is correct. Except the last sentence, the 802.22.3 PAR modification is editorial tweaking.

Since we are developing a Spectrum Characterization and Occupancy Sensing (SCOS) System, our WG feels that the sensing devices should not be constrained to just the two bands – below 1 GHz and from 2.7 GHz to 3.7 GHz that were approved in the earlier PAR.

NTIA is closely involved in the developing of this standard within our group. They are developing the SCOS system that will span many frequency bands.

This standard specifies a device operating in the bands below 1 GHz and a second device operating from 2.7 GHz to 3.7 GHz.

Also, today you can easily find Custom Off the Shelf Sensors that can go up to 8 GHz that may be used for SCOS. In future, SCOS systems are likely to operate in higher frequency bands to figure out the spectral efficiencies.

Thanks

Apurva

Can you explain the reason for the deletion of the last sentence?

The rest of the changes appear to be editorial tweaking - is that correct?

Dear All,

The 802.22 Working Group would like to make a request for modification to the scope of the 802.22.3 Spectrum Characterization and Occupancy Sensing PAR along with the PAR Extension by 2 Years.

The CSD has not changed.

I have created two documents – one for PAR Modification and other for PAR Extension, based on the guidance from the IEEE Staff. This is because, there is no way to make this happen in a single step.

The Draft modified PAR may be found here: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.22/dcn/18/22-18-0005-00-0003-802-22-3-par-modification.docx

The CSD has not changed from what was approved in 2014. This may be found here:

Thanks
