[802SEC] Fwd: [802SEC] reciprocal attendance credit: policy and current status of home/target group assignments

hi all,

to echo Dorothy and Steve, 802.18 is doing the same thing.  looking at 802.18 imat what came from before;

802.11, .15, .16(for now), .19, .21, .22, .24

like the others you have to obtain voting rights directly/no reciprocals credits.  reciprocal credits help to maintain members.

one activity I do, is on my master membership list I do show if the member has attended >75% being in the 802.18 meetings, versus using reciprocal credits to maintain membership.

what I do,

jay

Paul,

For 802.19 we have give reciprocal voting rights to the following wireless working groups/TAGs: 802.11, 802.15, 802.18 and 802.22.

Similar to 802.11, they must obtain voting rights by attendance in 802.19 directly.   The reciprocal voting rights help them maintain voting rights in 802.19 when they attend these other working groups.

We do this with the wireless working groups/TAGs since the topic of coexistence is of importance to their members.

Regards,

Steve

Hello Paul, all,

Currently, reciprocal credit is provided to 802.11 voters for attendance at:  802.18, 802.19, 802.24, 802.1, NENDICA Industry Connections Activity. Reciprocal credit for 802.1 is for 801.1Qbz, 802.1CF, 802E.

Reciprocal credit is given only AFTER an individual has attained 802.11 voter status.

The person cannot use the reciprocal credit to attain voting rights in the home 802.11 WG, only to maintain voting rights.

It is possible for members to attain voting rights in both groups, for example in 802.18, 802.19 AND 802.24 where the target group does not have a lot of meetings, but the work is of high relevance to 802.11.

Thanks,

Dorothy

Hi Paul,

802.1 grants reciprocal credit to members attending 802.11 sessions.

I was not aware that 'A person registering attendance in a target group shall obtain attendance credit in the persons home group and the target group.'  By using this mechanism it would appear that a person could obtain voting rights in two groups, which I don't think was the intention.

James,

Thank you for pointing me to the relevant text.

Dear 802 EC Members,,

As appropriate if reciprocal attendance credit applies to your group, please let me know which 'target groups' you have approved for your 'home groups'.  Please see the governing WG P&P below as identified by James.  Thank you.

Regards,

A person registering attendance in a target group shall obtain attendance credit in the persons home group and the target group. If the person has more than one home group for which the Chair of the home group has allowed maintaining credit, then the person shall select which home group for which they will be given credit.
