[802SEC] EEE and National Fire Protection Association – relationship update

Dear EC Members,

As some of you are aware, I recently have been working closely with Computer Society leadership, David Law and members of the 802.3 Working Group regarding continued representation of 802.3 WG members at the National Fire Protection Agency 70(R) National Electrical Code.

The reasons are two resolutions passed by the IEEE SA Board of Governors on 03 April 2020 <https://standards.ieee.org/about/bog/resolutions.html>:
* The BOG terminates the appointments of External Representatives to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), effective 30 June 2020.
* The BOG directs IEEE SA staff to provide assistance to any technical community in IEEE that would like to create a relationship between that technical community and the NFPA.

As a result of those resolutions several actions on behalf of 802 LMSC have been taken.
* Several 802 volunteers indicated their interest in applying to serve on the NFPA committees and Code Making Panels,  have been appointed as IEEE 802.3 liaison officers and have submitted applications (see below)
* I reached out to the Computer Society to get their support of for those 802 applicants (see attached memo to Computer Society)
* Computer Society leadership agreed to provide their support (see attached letter to NFPA)

David Law will discuss the details during tomorrow's 802 EC telecon.

Regards,

--Paul
